VISA INFORMATION (2) - Persons joining the work-travel programme could also come to Australia on one of the following visas.

Working Holiday Visa: This is a 12** month visa, which permits the holder to join the work-travel programme and stay with the first employer for a maximum of 3 months during the 12/24 months. This means that participants can work for more than 3 months but have to change employers every 3 months. Australia has a reciprocal agreement with certain countries thus allowing students from those countries to obtain the visa. These countries are Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Japan, Korea, UK, Ireland, Malta, Canada, Finland, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Belgium, Estonia and Taiwan. Australia is also negotiating with a number of other countries in order to be included on the working holiday visa scheme, so make sure you contact your nearest Australian embassy/consulate to check. Working holiday visas are great for students looking to combine their work-travel with some general sightseeing in Australia. You can also study for a maximum of 3 months on this visa. ** Applicants who wish to stay for 24 months must renew their 12 month visa and will need to prove that they have worked in 'fruit picking' or 'rural environment' for at least three months.

Occupational Training Visa: These are granted specifically for the student to undertake a work-travel placement within their area of study. This visa requires the employer to sponsor the participant before arriving in Australia. The participant will need to submit documents to show how the placement relates to his/her studies, proof of medical and public liability insurance and the completed application form. Cultural Cube can handle the whole application process for you whether you are in Australia or overseas. This visa is great for students who are required to do a period of work experience as part of their studies. This visa can be applied for both in Australia and abroad.

416 Special Program Visa: The visa allows the holder to participate on a work-travel programme for any length of time (max 12 months). Cultural Cube's Australian Partner is authorised by DIMIA to issue a letter of invitation for obtaining this visa. This visa is normally issued for the length of the proposed work-travel experience + 1 month. It can be issued for a maximum of 12 months. Holders are also allowed to study for a maximum of 20% of the length of the visa. This visa is particularly great for students looking to combine their work-travel placement with a short refresher English course prior the internship. All 416 visa applicants must have Travel and Medical insurance. Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of the insurance at the time of applying for the visa or when arriving in Australia.
