WHO CAN APPLY FOR A VOLUNTEER PROJECT IN ECUADOR?

People from all over the world can participate in this programme, regardless of nationality, religion, race or language. However, it is important to remember that Spanish is the native language in Ecuador and you will be working in a Spanish speaking environment - therefore a level of Spanish appropriate to the placement that you seek is necessary.  If you are an absolute beginner or you desire to improve and expand your acquired knowledge of Spanish, you can take part in an intensive Spanish course before your placement. We recommend that you have at least an Intermediate Level of Spanish to take part in the Volunteer Programme. For details of the Spanish Course, click here.

Participants should be: sociable, open minded, flexible, dynamic, organised and eager to learn and share. Applications from married or single people are welcome and you can be a student or young professional. We recognise that knowledge and experience are sometimes more important that paper qualifications, so people mature in years are also welcome.  The minimum age is normally 18.

You can start your Volunteer Project when you like, subject only to availability of a suitable placement. We would like you to commit to a minimum of 2 weeks to your project, but you are welcome to spend a maximum of 6 months in Ecuador. It is very important to be clear and remember that this is a volunteer position and not a job position - therefore you should not expect any remuneration.

Citizens of the United States, Canada and most European countries who wish to visit Ecuador as a tourist, on business or to study do not require a Visa unless they expect to stay in Ecuador for more than 180 days at a time, in any one calendar year.  Our participants will normally join our programme using a Tourist visa, but if required, an alternative visa can be supported.
